The preface of this book starts with this statement:

“This book is written for the winder and repairman. It will be useful also to the design engineer. It is the first comprehensive presentation of lap as well as wave windings. It contains new developments in integral-slot, fractional-slot balanced and fractional slot unbalanced lap and wave windings."

This is a repair man’s reference manual; it is a textbook; it is a design engineer’s handbook.

Every type of lap and wave winding for single speed and multispeed motors is detailed. Over 760 pages cover every conceivable type of connection and grouping of 3 phase stator and rotor windings. Single phase motor windings are also described carefully.

Methods of reconnecting for changed operating conditions and means of determining faults in windings are told in full. Applications and types of insulating materials are specified.

Details of grouping, paralleling possibilities with problems, and hook-ups are given in necessary details in 319 winding diagrams, 206 tables, – “The classic winding encyclopedia.”
